The Barbados Association of Greater Houston
The Barbados Association of Greater Houston (BAGH), Houston's preeminent Caribbean organization, announces the appointment of an entrepreneurial, results-oriented director of development. Mrs. Cheryl Thompson will build and manage a comprehensive Fund Raising program that will assist the organization in achieving a range of strategic program objectives and help propel its agenda to new levels of accomplishment.
Since its inception twenty-seven years ago, the BAGH has been working towards fostering better relations between citizens of Houston and the United States, and Barbados and the Caribbean. Today, under the executive leadership of new president, Mr. Reginald Clarke Jr., the organization is focused on building the infrastructure required to become the principal Caribbean organization in Houston. Central to the realization of its aspirations is the placement of this newly seasoned and dynamic director.
A strong advocate for the organization's mission and programs, Mrs. Thompson will provide expertise, direction, and discretion in advancing the BAGH's case for support in highly competitive and specialized philanthropic arenas. Key to her success is an ability to work independently, yet manage a small team and interface effectively with and leverage the knowledge, talents and resources of individuals within a robust and highly changing environment.
Mrs. Thompson has strong ties to the Houston community as well as Barbados, and considerable expertise in community, social, and educational issues. She possesses significant leadership skills and has exceptional interpersonal and communications skills and the ability to gather and distill relevant data/information and disseminate it throughout the organization. She has demonstrated personal qualities of integrity, self-confidence, teamwork, diplomacy, passion and intellectual curiosity.

The National Association of Barbados Organizations (NABO) Summer Conference was scheduled to take place in Charleston, South Carolina.
BOYCOTTED!!
The previous NABO Executives have been removed from office, but have refused to step down. The Conference, if held, is not being sanctioned by the majority of the Board of Directors.
